Teaching and Coaching from the Bagpipe Connection
Maureen Connor of the Bagpipe Connection brings over 20 years of playing and teaching experience to her
students. She began playing the bagpipes in 1985 and started teaching
in 1991. She has studied with Nancy Tunnicliffe, Jimmy McIntosh, Mike
Cusack and Donald Lindsay. She holds a M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership
and is certified at the Graduate and Senior Teacher level by the
Institute of Piping.
Maureen’s excellent leadership abilities led her to take on the
position as the Director of Scotia-Glenville Pipe band in 1994. Under
her leadership the level of the band improved from Grade V to Grade III.
The band has traveled to The World Pipe Band Championships on two
occasions placing 3rd in 2007 (Novice Juvenile) and 3rd in 2009
(Juvenile).

Besides her private teaching studio, Connor is much sought after as a
Pipe Band Coach in the Eastern United States. During the summer she
teaches with the Invermark Piping and Drumming Workshop and spent many
years with the Balmorals Schools.
As a performer Maureen is a member of the Grade 1 Oran Mor Pipe Band and
is Professional Solo Competitor. In 1999 she won the Nicol-Brown
Chalice and competed in the Silver Medal at the Argyllshire Gathering
and Northern Meeting. Connor is also much sought after as a freelance
piper in the Capital Region District through her business: The Bagpipe
Connection.
