Teaching and Coaching from the Bagpipe Connection
Maureen Connor of the Bagpipe Connection brings over 20 years of playing and teaching experience to her students.  She began playing the bagpipes in 1985 and started teaching in 1991.  She has studied with Nancy Tunnicliffe, Jimmy McIntosh, Mike Cusack and Donald Lindsay. She holds a M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership and is certified at the Graduate and Senior Teacher level by the Institute of Piping.

Maureen’s excellent leadership abilities led her to take on the position as the Director of Scotia-Glenville Pipe band in 1994. Under her leadership the level of the band improved from Grade V to Grade III. The band has traveled to The World Pipe Band Championships on two occasions placing 3rd in 2007 (Novice Juvenile) and 3rd in 2009 (Juvenile).

Besides her private teaching studio, Connor is much sought after as a Pipe Band Coach in the Eastern United States.  During the summer she teaches with the Invermark Piping and Drumming Workshop and spent many years with the Balmorals Schools.

As a performer Maureen is a member of the Grade 1 Oran Mor Pipe Band and is Professional Solo Competitor.  In 1999 she won the Nicol-Brown Chalice and competed in the Silver Medal at the Argyllshire Gathering and Northern Meeting.  Connor is also much sought after as a freelance piper in the Capital Region District through her business:  The Bagpipe Connection.
